Walter Herbert

Walter is a senior banking and business development executive with more than 30+ years’ experience working with leading financial services firms. His core competencies include: financial advisory, business development, investment banking, capital raising, cash flow planning, corporate and commercial banking, investor presentations and real estate finance. He has a proven track record of helping CEOs navigate equity and debt financing & recapitalizations, capital raising strategies including structuring and closing transactions.

Currently, Mr. Herbert is devoting time to the non-profit, Historic Salem, Inc., as a Board member and Vice President, heading up its 75th anniversary's capital campaign.

Experience: Mr. Herbert started his banking career with the 1st National Bank of Boston, in Boston, immediately after obtaining his Master’s Degree in International Economics from Boston University. His collegiate education started at Harvard University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Assignments rotated him through multiple international divisions of the Bank, including offices in London, Tokyo, Taipei and Hong Kong. With a developed expertise in high technology lending and project finance, Mr. Herbert's next 25 years saw him move to Bank of America, in Palo Alto, before moving to The Fuji Bank in San Francisco, where as Vice President and Senior Manager he was responsible for the full office P&L and its lending dimensions of Corporate Finance (Fortune 500), Technology Lending, Project Finance and Real Estate. Mr. Herbert's creative structures led to the first 100% privately financed NBA arena for the Sacramento Kings. Then, structured highly complex Public/Private capital market facility financings, accessing the bond market for the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Indians, Saint Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks. Additional sophisticated financings for the United Center in Chicago (Bulls and Black Hawks) and the Boston Garden (Bruins and Celtics), rounded out his portfolio before starting with Morgan Stanley, as an Investment Advisor, representing corporate, municipal and private clients on both the buy side and sell side of bond transactions.
